Intro
For 20 years now, the Amberif Fair has been inviting artists and designers from all over the world to offer their interpretations on the subject of the year. Meanwhile artists coming from 37 countries have contributed over 2000 designs.

The Amberif Fair organisers are proud to see that, after 20 years, the interest in contemporary amber jewellery is growing continuously. An impressive group of internationally renowned artists has participated so far using amber in surprising and innovatory ways. The goal of AMBERIF DESIGN AWARD is to promote amber as a source of artistic expression.

The objective is to design an original piece of artistic amber jewellery, inspired by the topic of the contest: TRANSITION
We live in the age of transition. Major evolutions take place around us: in human mind, in the constitution of human society and we find ourselves oscillating between tradition and innovation but striving forward. These constant processes of mutation and adaption prevent us from revolutionary changes which would overthrow all. Also our private life is characterized by transitions: sometimes we hardly realize the modifications, sometimes we are aware of the changes
of our physical and mental condition we face from childhood to growing old.We move between places and countries andface transition by loosing old roots and the attempt to grow new ones in new niches. Also amber undergoes a transition from the essential liquid of a tree and turning into a precious stone of various properties, wide spectrum of colors and rich aesthetics.
How can we facilitate amber in relation to jewellery to represent our interpretation of transitions?
