Guest Exhibition:
Materia+Mente+Mao: Joia arte brasileira by Miriam Mirna Korolkovas.
Brazil talks through vegetable, animal and mineral matter, a dialogue between the minds and the hands of the jewellery artists from the first two decades of the XXI century. This dialogue shifts from Brazilian artists' hands to the human body, a symbol of divinity, so as to move away from colonial jewellery and find its own identity.

JOYA – Semana de la Joyería Contemporánea de Barcelona es el acontecimiento más internacional de joyería contemporánea en España. En su cuarta edición, JOYA une distintas entidades y asociaciones relacionadas con la joyería de autor y brinda a estudiantes, diseñadores noveles y artistas consagrados una oportunidad única para presentar y vender sus colecciones. 

JOYA
es una plataforma de difusión nacional e internacional que cuenta con una amplia convocatoria de medios y está orientada tanto a profesionales del sector de la joyería como al público general. 

El acontecimiento se celebrará durante los días 11, 12 y 13 de Octubre de 2012 en el Convent dels Àngels (FAD) en Barcelona, España. 

La misma semana, tendréis la oportunidad de asistir al Espaijoia Jewelry Mediterranean Meeting en las Drassanes Reials de Barcelona desde el 12 hasta el 15 de octubre de 2012 así como al Shopping Day (sábado día 13 de octubre), un acontecimiento por las principales arterias comerciales del centro de la ciudad donde se encuentran las principales joyerías.

JOYA – Barcelona Contemporary Jewellery Week is the main international contemporary jewellery event in Spain. In its fourth edition, JOYA joins different entities and associations related to signature jewellery bringing a unique oportunity for students, new designers and established creators to exhibit and sell their collections. 

JOYA is a local and international exhibition with extensive press coverage opened for both professionals working on contemporary jewellery and also the general public. 

The event will take place October the 11th, 12th and 13th 2012 in Convent dels Àngels (FAD), located in Barcelona, Spain. 

The same week, you will also have the chance to attend Espaijoia, a Jewelry Mediterranean Meeting that will be held in Drassanes Reials in Barcelona the 12th to 15th October 2012 as well as the Shopping Day (Saturday, October the 13th), an event celebrated in the main commercial streets in the very center of the city where all the main jewellery boutiques are located.

Activities

JOYA 2012 X LA BASÍLICA Gallery Award 

The acclaimed gallery established in Barcelona, La Basílica, will grant a selected artist in JOYA 2012 with an space within the gallery itself to exhibit his or her collection presented during the fair. 

The gallery will also grant the artist the amount of 1000 euros so as to promote creativity and excellence in the field of signature. The award ceremony will be held october the 13th 2012 at 9 pm in the fair premises.


ALCHIMIA AWARD

Alchimia School of Contemporary Jewellery celebrates the second edition of the 'Alchimia Award', a tribute to the new faces in the world contemporary jewellery awarded in its first edition to Ana Sales. This award, consisting of a two-week intensive course at Alchimia School in Florence, will be given to one of the promising young students from the Catalan schools that participate in this year's edition of JOYA. 

Conferences:

Multiple Exposures: Jewellery and Photography - Ursula Ilse-Neuman.
Ursula Ilse-Neuman is an internationally recognized authority on contemporary art jewellery. Born in Germany, she joined the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD, New York) curatorial department in 1992 and is presently Curator of Jewellery. In her lecture, "Multiple Exposures: Jewellery and Photography", she will address the historic antecedents of the use of photography as a compositional element in 19th century jewellery while concentrating on contemporary works by jewellery artists around the world.

Gema Requena is the author of the book "A coolhunter in New York" and an expert in social trends in a variety of fields, such as cities, retail, social networks and its relation with the world of fashion. In her lecture, she will focus on the divergences between fashion as a sphere and fashion as a value, the ways in which the sphere of jewellery could benefit from the fashion value in terms of marketing, as well as the synergies between both the fashion and the jewellery.

Formación ¿Versus arte, versus industria? – Grupo Duplex
Grupo Duplex organizes a rounded-table conference called "Education, versus art, versus industry?", a three-sided open dialogue that will try to make clear the relation between the spheres of education, art and industry, its coincidences and divergences, the need for mutual understanding, the existence or absence of collaboration and the formula to build a bridge between them in the future.
