Intro
Did we need two youngsters from Barcelona in order to be able to create a new and pioneering resource which would throw open windows and throw down blond plaits, take biblical doors off their hinges and build Brooklyn-type bridges between jewellery lovers around the globe, workers in the sector and all the curious Ulysses’ navigators gravitating around the world of Contemporary Jewellery? Obviously we did.
Did we need two youngsters from Barcelona in order to be able to create a new and pioneering resource which would throw open windows and throw down blond plaits, take biblical doors off their hinges and build Brooklyn-type bridges between  ewellery lovers around the globe, workers in the sector and all the curious Ulysses’ navigators gravitating around the world of Contemporary Jewellery? Obviously we did.

At this point there are no more excuses only shortcuts as wide as motorways and as clean as footpaths in the Swiss Alps. In 2002 Leo Caballero and Amador Bertomeu, believing in the great potential - both cultural and artistic - present in Contemporary Jewellery, looked to the future and created a webbased platform providing an easy access to all the news - even when not easily available - and international exposure to a growing sector – Ours.

The name of the website is evocative, romantic but also has character and strength: Klimt02. A namesake that can be immediately and  asily memorized: the famous painter of the Viennese Secession and the year the website was established - the date of a  eginning, the schuster-nicole-schuster-nicole-beginning-2016-2016 of a turning point: finally a reliable and safe place where one might learn, get to know, and interact with, every aspect of contemporary jewellery. Hundreds of goldsmiths from more than thirty nations worldwide have adhered to the site, together with as many schools, collectors, museums, galleries, associations, students……

Like a Blob – but in this case phagocytically beneficial - Klimt02 grows with the attendances, the updates and the contribution of our own existence; a maternal and perfect organism giving back a thousand times what it receives, returning a thousand times enriched a treasure, a mine of information.

Its aim is to connect everything and everyone in order to be able to finally arrange an ecumenical calendar of events, courses, protagonists of Contemporary Jewellery – with News, Columns, Calendar and a Magazine weekly updated by the tireless and by now pale, night bird Leo Caballero. That which is local becomes universal – with a nearly technological spirituality– as through an enormous and etheric funnel, everything finishes up in one place (that is in our agenda or in our column).

Who, What, Which, Where, When. Perhaps not “Who am I”, “Where do I come from” or “Where am I going” but in any case lots of fundamental questions about Contemporary Jewellery are immediately, simply and clearly available for anyone who visits the website Klimt02.

Nobody, among those who do not belong to the world of the extras, lives on air alone and, even when things that have no cost exist, often they need at least a contribution. Klimt02 is in this category. Visiting the website is free but becoming a member allows many extra concessions, with a direct participation in the website and access to more information, and with the extra advantage of feeling that one is taking an active part in it and is not just a parasite on an organism the lives from, for and with us.

The AGC is like a loving parent who believes in a better world and who fights non-stop, with conscience and strength to open a path for the prodigal son. As well as explaining the Know how to its own members, it has signed an agreement with Klimt02 which allows it to give free of cost to all members of AGC, who are up to date with their payments, a years subscription to the Klimt02 community.
Remaining out of this means fighting through ambiguous websites while being careful the children are in bed and probably accidentally buying items whose use is the last mystery of Fatima. Blindly navigating all night while your cup of camomile becomes cold, risking not to find or worse risking to not be found (why should you have to admit: ?), in short condemning yourself with your own hands and getting further away from the sweet fruit of Knowledge of the world of Contemporary Jewellery which can be finally found with just one click of the mouse.

From today, thanks also to the contribution by AGC, to find global and good quality information you only need to navigate in one direction and simply choose Who, What, Where, When and How.
