Cranbrook Metalsmithing Curates Exhibition at SNAG Toronto

Published: 15.05.2013

With THIS END UP curators Julia Heineccius, Nadège Roscoe-Rumjahn and Iris Eichenberg foster a collaborative presentation between three international schools known for their jewelry programs. The theme THIS END UP is meant to be suggestive of destinations, exchange, and differences in perspective. Although continents apart, similar formal and conceptual concerns are being tackled by these students, often enabling the same conversations to happen simultaneously within their work. Upon completing their long journey to the conference exhibition, these pieces will be unpacked and introduced in pairings in the transitory environment of a shipping container. This liminal space will be a be a temporary classroom, in which to stimulate dialogue around the practices and ideas represented in each couplet.By engineering a forced encounter of the work of these students, we hope to initiate an interaction similar to the awkwardness or joy of sitting next to someone unfamiliar on the first bus ride of the year.

This End Up will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm, and on Friday from 12:00 pm until 11:00 pm.

Newspaper style catalogues are $5.00 cash, complete with an archival sleeve.
