Intro
I was born in Lisbon and studied jewellery at Ar.Co (Centro de arte e comunicação visual) between 2000 and 2005. I have worked at Galeria Reverso and since 2013 in Galeria Tereza Seabra. Currently I am a teacher as well as the head of the Jewellery Department in the school where I graduated.

Statement

Down the Rabbit Hole is a group of pieces that develops and establishes a clear relationship with previous work in so far that it explores the same plastic and technical procedures though widening and reinventing its use in search of a recurrent humoristic aspect that is based on the universe of the fantastic and the unheard.

The surrealistic assemblage that results in the intertwine between forms that allude the naturalistic in counterpoint with apparently mechanical and artificial elements seeks to establish an effect that in spite of being inspired in the historical tradition of still life it still aims to reinvent it’s appearance, it’s shape and its content and meaning.

The premise of constructing portable and usable Jewellery with a strong reference to the ornamental defined the issues related to the making and the definition of scale. Executed through materials contrasting both in texture and touch as well as in it’s appearance they somehow   awake ambiguity in there sensorial perception and simultaneously in the comprehension of the figurative imagery.

I intent to demonstrate the significance of Jewellery as a discipline with an enriching artistic practice decisive in the definition and construction of culture in contemporary existence.
