Intro
Christian Bürger is a contemporary jeweller based in Germany with a MA in Craftsman - Jewellery Designer from the Zeichenakademie Hanau. The stories behind which piece and the person who wears it are very important in Bürger's artistic creation: 'My creations are made to be worn. I make sure the creation and the person wearing it complement one another, as the effect a jewelry piece has depends on its medium'.

Statement

Currently my work has become more spontaneous. This development has resulted in a new generation of very exciting and fascinating creations. I pursue new things and approaches, rather than sticking to old patterns. These approaches can be characterized by new shapes or materials. The materials I use preferably are of natural origin. Synthetic materials can, without question, be used to create highly esthetic products of equal importance. However, it is very important to me that materials feel good from the very moment at which they are processed.

There are no limits to jewelry design, and that is exactly what drives me. You can work freely. I like that – I like to polarize, I like to get people to leave their hustle and bustle of everyday life behind them, and take a moment to see, feel, and interact with something beautiful and extraordinary.

Often, jewelry pieces contain stories. The story begins with an idea which determines material, shape and size. Besides the technical precision, it is very important to me to ensure a precise implementation of this idea I have for every piece I am working on.

My creations are made to be worn. I make sure the creation and the person wearing it complement one another, as the effect a jewelry piece has depends on its medium. The story of a creation develops as it is worn, each of its dents and faults stands for a memory, and thus a chapter of its story. Often, I photograph my creations only after they were worn in order to portrait their stories.
