20:20 Visions. Celebrating twenty years of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery at The Goldsmiths' Centre

Intro
20:20 Visions shows the best of the contemporary jewellery and conveys progression in design and techniques over the last twenty years.
 
To mark its 20th Birthday, the Association for Contemporary Jewellery (ACJ) has invited twenty of its most prominent and innovative members to exhibit work from 1997 alongside a new piece. The exhibition also features work selected by a prominent panel of advisors. ACJ currently has 500 members so this exhibition promises to explore a range of materials, new technologies, techniques and methods of construction.

Interactive Film screening
Thursday 15 June 2017
6pm – 8.30pm, £10 (including a glass of wine) 
_See how titanium can be coloured by anodising and by heat. Dr Lynne Bartlett's talk will explain the processes on video, then she'll discuss enhancing the colour using machine engraving and laser etching to create multi-coloured patterns on simple titanium shapes.

Talk: Found Objects

6pm – 8pm, £10 (including a glass of wine) 
_Multi-skilled jeweller Dauvit Alexander scavenges old warehouses, scrapheaps and disused airfields for interesting abandoned objects. He uses these in narrative pieces of jewellery, often incorporating castings, precious metals and set gemstones to tell stories. He’ll explain with slides his approach to design and making, and show examples from others working in a similar vein.

Curators Talk

6pm – 7.30pm, £5 
_20:20 Visions: Celebrating 20 Years of the ACJ exhibition displays the use of a wide range of precious and non-precious materials, employing techniques which are traditional as well as contemporary. Exhibition curator Terry Hunt will move through the display of work drawing attention to significant aspects and highlighting developments seen within the artists' work over 20 years.
