Dirk Allgaier takes over the Stuttgart art book publishers and kicks off in new premises
For ten years Dirk Allgaier has co-managed the internationally operational publishing house based in Stuttgart. On 1 April 2015 the publisher took over the ownership of Arnoldsche Art Publishers. The founder of the business, Dieter Zühlsdorff, is retiring from the firm.
One of the first decisions of the new owner was to move to newly refurnished premises not far from the previous location. It is an enormous pleasure for me that this new beginning can take place in new offices, Dirk Allgaier explained. This way, we are able to optimise the existing organisation and programme and to also address new ideas more easily.
A core objective of the publisher is to further develop international relations and partnerships. Thus, book projects with museums in Houston and Toronto, for example, have already been determined for the Autumn 2015 programme. The fine arts are also to play a larger role in the future. Books such as the recently released standard work Impressionism in Canada, whose second edition will be released in autumn, are already leading the way.
But for the managing director it’s not just about new ideas; it’s also about strengthening and clearly emphasising the central expertise of the publishing house. We are currently global leaders in our specialist fields of art jewellery and ceramics. I would very much like to further consolidate these sectors of the applied arts internationally. For Dirk Allgaier it goes without saying that the distinctly high standard in quality of the books released by Arnoldsche will be retained: The very highest quality is and remains a central component of our publishing philosophy.
Along with the new owner, Marion Boschka has also changed offices. She has managed editorial and production since 2010, assisted for the last year and a half by her colleague Sarah Güse. Winfried Stürzl continues to be in charge of press and public relations.
Arnoldsche Art Publishers was founded in 1987 by Dieter Zühlsdorff. In 1993 Dirk Allgaier joined the team and established, among other things, the business’s international activities. He maintains close contacts with authors, museums and collectors, in particular those in Europe, Russia, Israel, Japan and North America.
