The Art Jewellery Night of Budapest is a yearly organized event, presenting contemporary jewelry exhibitions, that will be held for the 4th time this year. The designers can participate in organizing individual or group exhibitions. In this September record number of artworks will be exhibited: 110 designers, 42 venues in Budapest and 1 in Pécs. This year’s main patron is the well known Hungarian artist, Réka Lőrincz.
This year holds several novelties: first and foremost, we endeavored to involve foreign contemporary designers. The Art Jewelry Night’s aim was to expand the circle of national designers, to give space to international artists so that they would be known also in Hungary.
This symbiotic relationship between the national and international artists represents well this year’s topic: Symbiosis. The call was available on international platforms as well, so it came as no surprise that almost half of the 85 received artworks were from other countries. Each received work was evaluated by an independent jury – well-known artists, curators, theoretical professionals - who made their decision based on different aspects. As a result, the best 36 artwork exhibited between 20-23 September in the Contemporary Architecture Center /KÉK/, where most of the events will be held.
Other than the several exhibitions, various new programs were planned: Hans Stofer, is hosting a workshop in the organization with Art Jewelry Night. The 12 participants will be blindfolded, which aim is to highlight the importance of handmade creations and the stimulation of senses.
On the professional day - organized especially for artists - where 3 famous designer artists - Hans Stofer, Melanie Isverding, Péter Vladimir - will give lectures on different relevant topics.
On the other hand, a related guest exhibition of Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle - named One And Another will take place also in the central area of Budapest.
On saturday a downtown courtyard will change to a scene of reminiscent of an archaic ritual: Gisbert Stach will be presenting “Throwing knife” performance.
Besides the various programs, it is important to highlight, that both the independent and Symbiosis competitions’ participants will be awarded.

The H6 Contemporary Jewelry Group – (Anna Börcsök, Veronika Fazekas, Fruzsi Fekete, Kinga Horányi, Zsófia Neuzer, Nóra Tengely) took over the right to organize this special event in this January, hoping for a refreshing, energetic success. Their aim with these diverse programs is to popularize the Hungarian jewelry design in a broader circle and also to inspire the beginner and professional artistic groups.
