Necklace: Handle With Care by Veronika Fabian.Swarovski crystals, oxidized brass, steel.. 2018.28 x 1 x 67 cm.My starting point was the recycling and sustainability symbol on the everyday packaging. I reinterpreted the usual ‘handle with care’ symbol where the earth is held by a pair of hands, and for my necklace, the wearer replaces the earth. I thought that in the future humanity might need to be saved sooner than the earth does. The necklace’s loose structure makes readability more challenging and refers to the difficulties we face regarding our sustainable future..
