A delight for the eye, lived experience, and a quiet sense of humor in dealing with the “things of life” unite the three artists, who collaborated on the gallery’s 123rd exhibition at the invitation of Rosemarie Jäger.
Artist list
Giampaolo Babetto, Stefan Kraus, Katja Krumbeck
Cose della vita is the laconic title of a group exhibition that piques curiosity. On display are works by Giampaolo Babetto, the outstanding goldsmith of the Paduan School, including selected pieces of jewelry, objects, and drawings that reveal his holistic approach to design, which draws equally on Renaissance art, nature, and the human body.
Stefan Kraus, known as the curator of the Kolumba Museum—which he directed until the end of 2025—has appeared as a photographer in many of his publications. In *Cose della vita*, he combines these with small-format paintings and text fragments to form an associative tapestry of memories of places and things.
Katja Krumbeck paints and draws whimsical scenes that, with a dreamlike (un)certainty, evoke the fullness of life, yet are anything but unambiguous. As oil pastels often rendered with exaggerated strokes, they call for a relief-like, almost physical interpretation.
Opening: 27. September, 11:00 h.
With a speech by Malte Guttek, Executive Manager of the Association for Goldsmiths’ Art and the director of the German Goldsmiths’ House Hanau.
A book featuring works by the three artists serves as an extension of the exhibition space.
64 pages, 51 color illustrations (some spanning two pages), thread-bound, hardcover, 14.8 x 21 cm.
Alexander Verlag Berlin, € 20 (ISBN: 978 3 89581 6758).
