Klaus Bürgel

Klaus Bürgel began fabricating The Loop Series in 2004. These brooches can be described as three-dimensional objects borne of two-dimensional drawings. In Bürgel's words: "Each one is like a roller coaster. You sit in it, it goes up, it goes down, it goes around the corner, it slows down, it drops down with high speed, and all you can do is hold on, but you can't get out. There is no beginning and no end." Shortly after the brooch series, Bürgel concentrated on a graphite line-drawing series which began as curves that once again evolved into endless loops. His recent book, "Endless Conundrum," highlights the two-dimensional and three-dimensional work.

Klaus Bürgel received his MFA from the Akademie d.B.Künste, Munich, Germany. His work has been exhibited at museums and galleries internationally. He currently teaches and maintains a studio in New York City.
