Lam de Wolf makes wall-mounted works, silent and without colour, inspired by the land, sea and sky of Flemish Zealand. Lam de Wolf is intrigued by language and also incorporates this in her visual works, such as Zakdoekenboekje (Handkerchief Book) from 1996, Sinnepoppen (Sentence Dolls) from 1999, IJzeren Woorden (Iron Words) from 2003, and Sinnerokken (Sentence Skirts) from 2004.

Copies of Lam de Wolf’s small sketchbook Eindeloos hetzelfde en geen ogenblik gelijk, comprising her own writings in Dutch, sketches and illustrations are on sale at both Galerie Ra and the Special Collections bookshop for € 22.50 .
A small poetic jewel!
In tandem with the display Het Vlakke Vlekkenland at Galerie Ra, Lam de Wolf is also showing Line Words at the Special Collections Library of Amsterdam University. These works comprise new or existing words constructed from lines, which she then repeats and arranges into blocks. Endlessly similar yet not for a moment the same…

This exhibition opens Friday 3 February, from 17-19, with a mini-symposium on art and language in the Special Collections museum café. Steph Scholten, director of heritage UvA, Paul Derrez, gallery owner, Riemer Reinsma, linguist, and Lam de Wolf, artist will all be taking part. Language Dutch. You are warmly invited to this event.
