Artist list
Lene WoltersThe exhibition tells about the world’s creation, end and resurrection. The jewellery is a sensual interpretation of the Old Icelandic story Vǫluspá - "The Wise Woman's Prophecy". The story’s origins pre-date the Christianization of Scandinavia, around 900-1000 AD.
The Wise Woman is the storyteller. A timeless person, that stands above Man and the Gods. She can look into the future, and she can see that there will always be light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how dark it gets. In this way, the story is both universal and personal at the same time.
In this Exhibition, “The Wise Woman’s Prophecy” is presented as unique jewellery, made by goldsmith and jewellery designer Lene Wolters. Each piece describes selected parts of the story in a chronological order. With a beautiful display of detail, the story unfolds within a universe of finely crafted jewellery and precious metals.
Lene Wolters received her qualifications as a goldsmith whilst at Georg Jensen and graduated as a jewellery designer from the Institut for Ædelmetal. She was awarded the Danish Arts and Crafts Bronze medal. She has received a Scholarship from Danmarks Nationalbank, and has sold to the Ny Carlsberg fondet.
