With jewellery and silversmithing, the viewer can never be neutral: the closeness to the body and everyday social rituals engage us as participants in the formation of meaning, making consumption a creative act. From a dozen countries, Thailand to Hungary, Israel to Korea, these exceptional makers are shaping the decorative culture of our time, combining the dreamlike with the practical and inviting us to think again about what is taken for granted in life, whether objects or experiences, focusing on the small-scale, the detailed, the repeated gesture, the precious fragment, in order to make sense of the bigger picture.
