Artist list

Petra Zimmermann
Petra Zimmermann takes you into a world of glamour.
Through skillful and artistic methods the artist reinvents the anonymously, mass-produced costume jewelry and reinstates it into the spotlight of her viewer’s consideration. Zimmermann’s jewelry leads to new possibilities for interpretation, as she is fascinated in the unusual interaction of kitsch elements, artistic interpretation and critical reflection. Zimmermann’s works convey a thoughtful consideration upon the forceful attraction that kitsch beauty has, through its allure, value and expiration date.

Remarks

Introducing Seth Papac
Seth Papac focus is targeted at an investigation and interpretation of parures, a term from Old French for a set of various items of matching jewelry, which rose to popularity in early 17th century Europe. Cleverly the parure was modular and could be disassembled into different parts or easily remade to stay fashionable. Introducing here are the tool sets that formed part of his 2009 thesis work at Cranbrook Academy of Arts, Michigan, US for his Master of Fine Arts. The tool sets are sets of jewelrywhich are narrative through implied action. Each set is for a fictitious job/ritual that deal with a metaphorical cleansing of the body. This work is strong with memory and emotion and illustrates relationships through material, process, composition, contrast and color.
