Mobilia Gallery proudly presents artist Suzan Rezac

Suzan Rezac is known for her stunning jewelry and metal inlay. Inlay is a precise, labor intensive technique. Each component of a design is cut, fitted and soldered into its negative counterpart. With over 500 soldered joints some of the more elaborate pieces take weeks to construct. The colors in the pieces are achieved by inlaying different metals. Common ones such as gold, silver, copper, nickel silver, brass and bronze are combined with lesser known Japanese alloys (shakudo and shibuichi). The final hues are obtained by applying a patina.

Rezac's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at such institutions as the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Montreal Museum of Decorative Arts and the National Museum in Zurich. She has received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, the Raphael Prize and the prestigious Dr. Herbert Hoffman Award. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York.
