Exhibition of jewelry and small objects by students of the metal and jewelry department at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.
Exhibition of jewelry and small objects by students of the metal and jewelry department at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, led by Eva Eisler.
The studio K.O.V. was awarded “The Best Student presentation” at Designblok 08, and “The Best Studio 2007” at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design.
Work in the metals studio K.O.V. (concept – objekt – význam, i.e. concept – object – meaning) is based on reflections on the foundation of things in a deeper sense, in the context of the world of contemporary art, design and architecture, on working with the principal material – metal as a medium of self-expression and on the discovery of the individual's creative potential. The work during each semester is conceived as a series of three dimensional projects that will lead to the production of a product made of metal, in some cases in combination with other materials. Students can, according to their abilities and interests, select from a wide spectrum of applications ranging from jewelry, applied art objects, interior or exterior architectural details, up to work that is classified as fine art.
The course includes the study and analyses of various related texts that are seen as a challenge to analytical thinking and an open studio presentation of their work in progress. The students should leave the school with a feeling that they have learned something valuable, that they are equipped with a healthy, positive and objective way of thinking, that they are learning to know who they are and which direction their future path will take.
