Name of graduation student: Adi Mizrahi
Name of guiding teachers: Orina Parente
Nominated by Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art.
Adi Mizrahi's graduation project and her design process in the Shenkar jewelry department were unusual mainly in her special way of examining music as the force which drives the design process. Adi researched and explored throughout this project the human face while creating mechanisms that she developed especially for this specific project and were functionally and aesthetically integrated into her face jewelry. The interdisciplinarity in her work is reflected mainly by choosing between sound, jewelry and movement, creating a series of objects that creates a connection between the person, the viewer and The sense of hearing and sense of sight. The series of this face jewelry represents a unique emotional experience that is only possible thanks to them.
/ Prof. Orina Parente
Statement of the artist:
Music is a sensual and empowering experience. We are all exposed to and surrounded by music throughout our lives. The body also participates in the audio experience and reacts to it. I designed four interior objects that connect between the wearer, the body and the music. The jewels maintain movement in connection with mounts that cling to the speaker and give different visibility to the vibrations depending on the jewel worn. It creates movement and certainty for the sound.
The objects are placed on the face and hold an intersection between the jewellery and the vibration, creating an intensified visual experience of movement.
Each piece of jewellery works on a different principle and maintains a different visual expression of the vibration. The strings and threads of each piece emphasize a range of movements in the encounter with the sound.
