At Saatchi Gallery, an emblematic building in London, Collect celebrated the 14th edition with many galleries, crafts councils and exhibitions. JOYA Barcelona was the first Spanish entity that participate at this prestigious event, bringing Angela Ciobanu (Romania, 1984), Jeemin Jamie Chung (South Korea, 1983), Liana Pattihis (UK , 1961) and Niki Stylianou (Greece, 1968).
Collect London presents in each edition a curated selection of a high level art objects, crafts and art jewellery, organized by the Crafts Council and with important collaborators like Loewe Foundation, Collect invite an excellent crowd as curators, museums, galleries and collectors from all over the world.

JOYA Barcelona is an international fair dedicated to art jewellery, presenting in each edition a selected amount of artists from more than 22 countries, curated like Collect, highlighting the excellence in technical and conceptual aspects.

The work presented at Collect was under a same concept; “BIG”. Each artist prepared bigger pieces especially for the event, the brooches from brass and pigments made by Jamie Chung were acquired by the Victoria & Albert Museum for the permanent collection, the paper, silver and gold pieces from Angela Ciobanu were sold for the Crafts Council directors to mention some prestigious facts.

A beautiful venue with an excellent public attending, the visitors knew how to appreciate, understand and collect art jewellery, high quality art objects were acquired like art pieces for different museums and the feeling was very positive: “We are at the right place, at the right moment!”

JOYA broke the extended minimal way of exhibiting bringing a bit of movement to the space, presenting the pieces in a white wave that embraced each work, creating a different atmosphere, inviting the public to discover the hidden pieces under the curves and shades. The overview participation was very gratifying, already looking for the next year to repeat “JOYA goes British!”
