Katie’s project in her final year was immediately about expressing her feelings towards the global environmental crisis and engaging the viewer in considering the climate emergency – she explored a range of ways communicating through materials, politics and interaction. She shows her skills as an artist and maker in thinking through these issues and speaking through the material, jewellery and function. She demands the viewer and wearer to be involved and to notice and be the cause that affects the work. The pieces are both delightfully engaging and subtle but powerful reminders that what we do has an impact on our environment.
