Scholarships awarded by The Place of Wonders Foundation for 2023-2024 at Le Art Orafe School.

The Place of Wonders (TPOW) Foundation and Le Arti Orafe (LAO) school of jewellery-making announced the awarding of scholarships for the 2023/2024 academic period. Two realities united in this special collaboration to offer a training and study opportunity to young people leaving art schools in Tuscany and aspiring artisans and artists interested in the world of jewellery-making.
The board consisting of Michela Babini (director of the TPOW Foundation), Giò Carbone (founder and director of LAO Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School) and Anna Balatti (director of LAO Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School), has selected three new students for the jewellery-making, setting and engraving courses.
Irene Rosati, Alessia Barzellotti and Paola Labate will begin their training on 9 October in the LAO workshops in Florence under the guidance and tutoring of Giò Carbone and the supervision of Michela Babini. Another student, Beatrice Campagna, winner of last year's TPOW scholarship, will continue her training path with the second year of jewellery-making.
The Place of Wonders is a Corporate Social Responsibility project stemming from the Babini family's passion for the culture of the manufacturing arts and the training of new talents.
Through this collaborative project with the Florentine jewellery school, TPOW invests in the training of new generations of professionals, accompanying them in their job placement so as not to disperse the handicraft culture that for centuries has distinguished the city of Florence.
The Foundation also intends to develop a new and active participation of the guests of the iconic THE PLACE hotel, owned and managed directly by the Babini family, in the support of craft, and artistic and creative activities developed by new generations of talents, also within historical Florentine companies or workshops. The guests of THE PLACE hotel Firenze will no longer be just spectators, but rather, an active participant in the cultural and social life of the city.
Founded by Giò Carbone in 1985, Le Arti Orafe is one of Europe's leading jewellery-making schools, offering a wide range of professional and specialisation courses and with students coming from every corner of the world as well as from all over Italy.
LAO also organises events, conferences and international exhibitions dedicated to contemporary jewellery.
