The 8th edition of the New Talents Award by Klimt02 aims to recognize the work of graduate students in our field by supporting their careers in the professional world. Nominated by our school members, one of the selected graduates will win the New Talents Award.
This graduation project shows us the energetic students' strong faith in their favorite majors and their great courage to carry on the past and open up the future.
Name of graduation student: Yuting Chen
Name of guiding teachers: Kezhen Wang
Nominated by Nanjing University of the Arts.
For students majoring in arts and crafts who stick to two-handed creation, tools, studios and instructors for art transmission and teaching are the necessary configurations used to be in the past. However, this year, these "everyday" unexpectedly switched to online virtual teaching, research and even creative mode. The new model gives us a chance to re-examine the relationship between arts and crafts and the digital era. Just as the concept of time is defined nonlinearly in the contemporary worldview, and light presents the wave-particle duality in the quantum mechanical world, the two-handed creation, which is an inherent human behavior, is also faced with attribute reconstruction in the digital era, whether in connotation or extension.
It is believed that such an "extraordinary" creative experience will be a precious experience for every 2022 graduate. Their works triggered our thinking on the contemporary multi-dimensional aesthetic value of craftsmanship, and also gave us a glimpse of the author's rich inner world from another aspect.

The statement of the artist:
With the development of contemporary digital technology, the design approach presents a new normal. The Digital approach has explored its design possibilities and collided with traditional handicrafts to create a new form of experience. Parametric design has its own theoretical value and practical significance, and many digital works with meaning emerge. Strange attractor is an important component theory of chaos and a mathematical concept at the same time. Against the background of the phase space constructed by science and the mathematical turn, it reveals the law of system generation, that is, stability and purposefulness, describes the convergence type of motion, has a dynamic form, and shows the process and law of life system evolution. This paper takes the strange attractor in the parametric platform as the research object, and explains its background, formal rules, and the space-time and world outlook behind it; Then, from the perspective of art design, the paper explores its form generation. On the basis of theoretical exploration, inspired by the unique landscape of natural landforms, parametric mathematics is used to create the forms of natural elements and life. Based on the concept of the form and evolution of strange attractors, metal vessels with visual dynamics are generated to explore the possibility of forms in metal design.
