From the Heng Lee’s toilet paper proposition I started to think about that during the coronavirus global outbreak incidents, the cultural differences between east and west is bigger than I thought. When the disease first broke out in China, I was angry when I first saw it in Europe, I continuously paying attention to the domestic epidemic situation, and also chatted with European classmates and friends about this event, at the same time, I thought it is important to be ready for defence work ahead of time, yet my European friends around me feel very surprised, "Daodao what are you thinking? You don't have to worry about that! In Europe, it's safe..." And when it did start to spread in Europe, to my surprise, they started to stock up on toilet paper! In Asia, especially east Asia, we keep masks so we can have protection when we go out, but why do they keep toilet paper? Until now, when I go shopping, I am almost the only one who wears masks. Europeans think masks are unnecessary and unscientific. Looking at the rising epidemic figures, I am really worried about their epidemic prevention work.
. It seems to me that sharing information and collaborate is the way for pandemic control and treatment. It is not a single country problem. The virus itself is the common enemy of all mankind. Therefore, the work I created is a game which two people can play on both sides at the same time. The two pearls need to find a way to meet each other in the maze. Today in the process of globalization, the development speed is faster than ever before, and the intersection and collision between countries and different cultural backgrounds are more and more intense. I learned from a news report that it can take only 36 hours to spread the virus around the world through the airport. We need harmony without uniformity more than ever these days..
