The city compels me to tilt my head unnaturally high, just to glimpse something as simple as the sky. Modernity relentlessly builds atop its own ruins — a cycle Marshall Berman captures in All That Is Solid Melts into Air, where cities and their inhabitants are trapped in constant transformation. Urban life now demands tools for survival, as cities shift from sanctuaries to aggressive terrains. In response, I have designed a steel apparatus, fitted to my body as a citizen of Tehran, using quantitative data to measure the angle of view toward the cityscape. It is not merely a mechanical object, but a necessity — a tool for measuring, protecting, and adapting within an environment that evolves more relentlessly with each passing day.
