Realized on an impressive scale, the work is both powerful and monumental, yet retains a sense of lightness and poise. White liquid slip was sprayed onto the surface and the vessel was then fired at 1250°C. The slip has a higher shrinkage rate than the bare clay underneath, resulting in cracks during firing. The cracks are later soaked with a black glaze, after which the vessel is fired again to subtly articulate the surface..
