Lydia Hartshorn. Body piece: Up-Cycled, 2018. Rubber inner tubes, Swarovski crystals.. Inspired by Swarovski’s admirable responsible policies and also by the historic wearing of spare inner tubes by Tour de France cyclists, I have created glamorous, fun and sustainable pieces. Reflecting the timeless quality and the constantly evolving designs of Swarovski, I experimented with unconventional ways of setting the crystals. Using punctured inner tubes from my local bike shop I have sliced and punched new holes to create simple, luxe jewellery intended to be worn whilst cycling as a safety reflector..
