Ring: Bended by Wainstein Topaz.Silver, vitreous enamel.. 2020.Statement: Topaz Wainstein’s collection began with an intuitive paper-folding technique and then evolved with a transition into metal. The folds and cuts create dark spaces, simultaneously emphasizing and concealing different areas. Wainstein: “When I discovered metalcraft during my studies, I learned about the technique’s meaning—the impact of my personal touch and design decisions. My decision to emphasize spaces and surfaces by painting them stemmed from a desire to differentiate between layers, uncover new aspects of form, and add a whole new dimension to the design by drawing attention to negative space.”.
