Intro
The Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria invites visitors to this year's summer exhibition at Galerie Handwerk. Under the title Alles Rosa – von Rosé zu Pink und Fuchsia (All Pink – from Rosé to Pink and Fuchsia), the entire spectrum of one color is on display, ranging from Mountbatten Pink to Fuchsia and Amaranth, all the way to Schiaparelli's Shocking Pink.
The idea for the exhibition grew out of a passion. I love the color pink in all its shades. I associate it with summer, with flowers, with the romantic evening mood at sunset. And, of course, with beautiful clothing and jewelry, raves Elke-Helene Hügel, who curated the summer exhibition.

She has brought together 58 artists from nine countries who explicitly feature pink in their color palette. This gave rise to the idea for an exhibition with works made of wood, glass, ceramics, paper, textiles, and materials that are naturally pink, such as shells or stones.

I asked the artists whether they have pink in their repertoire. The answer was often: 'That has always been my favorite color,' or 'I'm currently working on a pink series,' or 'I'd be happy to create something exclusively for the exhibition.' That encouraged me to put together this summer exhibition, which is so special to me, Hügel reports. Among the highlights is the Chinese porcelain master Zhou Songjian, whose works with an extraordinary pink glaze will be shown at the gallery for the first time. Also created especially for the exhibition are Felix Muhrhofer's new trays in an elaborate terrazzo technique and Benedikt Fischer's brooches made of pink shells with mother-of-pearl teeth.

Pink is not the trend color of the year, but that doesn't matter to Elke-Helene Hügel: I don't follow trends. For me, it's about how pink relates to other colors, how it sometimes shines, sometimes remains very delicate, is transparent or opaque, depending on the material, technique, and incidence of light.

A catalog will be published to accompany the exhibition. Its content and editing are overseen by art historian Dr. Michaela Braesel, herself a curator at Galerie Handwerk. The creatives were asked to describe their very personal view of the
color and which memories and emotions they associate with it. The charming texts that resulted are unusually personal.

Accompanying events include:
- Two guided tours on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM: with Elke-Helene Hügel on August 13, 2026, and with Dr. Michaela Braesel on September 10, 2026
- A reading with Björn Vetter from his book ROSA – Der Zauber einer Farbe (Pink – The Magic of a Color), which describes the cultural-historical development of the color from the "boys' color" of antiquity to its multifaceted image today, on August 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM
