Whether it be divine hands shaping clay into bodies, threads weaving worlds into existence, or splinters being forged into form, craft has always been a language of creation. Across cultures and throughout history, making has served as a way of telling myths of origin—stories where worlds are pulled from the raw, where breath is given to the formless, and where touch awakens matter.

The hand has always played a vital role in creation, and creation has always been essential to human experience. Over the past three years we - students from textile ceramic and jewellery art at HDK-Valand, have worked with the act of creation. We have contextualised and conceptualised. In constant dialogue with the long traditions of our materials we have reshaped traditional narratives and questioned what the word "craft" can truly hold.
Of the Bone is a new myth of origin. A myth made not of the divine, but of hands - of process and material. Here, craft is not only the making of objects, but a ritual, a questioning, a reckoning.
