Intro
This events called "Epicentres" will become a real network around the new jewellery movement compared to an earthquake that shakes the territory and expands in the same way as jewellery practice has had a significant growth in this part of the world.
More than 15 exhibitions and seminars in the Chilean cities of Santiago, Rancagua, Valparaiso and Valdivia will meet throughout the month of October as part of the “5th Spanish-American Meeting for Silversmiths and Copper Jewellers”. An undertaking of “Joya Brava”, the Chilean Association of Contemporary Jewellery along with the Silver Patronate of Peru and Pro O'Higgins of Chile.

This events called "Epicentres" will become a real network around the new jewellery movement compared to an earthquake that shakes the territory and expands in the same way as jewellery practice has had a significant growth in this part of the world. Conferences and workshops taught by international benchmarks as Carles Codina and Ricardo Domingo from Spain, as well as a significant number of training and exchange activities headed by jewellery experts.

The main activity “5th Spanish American Meeting” which will convene a large contingent of jewellery artists from Europe and Latin America, will take place between 16 and 19 of October in the town of Sewell , declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

The program in the city of Rancagua will include three exhibitions open to the public at the Municipal Teather of Rancagua. One is the “Traveling Museum of Silver” brought by the Silver Patronate of Peru, which includes both jewellery and utilitarian objects made of silver by artists from around the continent. The second is the “Student Show of the School of Copper jewellery from Coya”. And the third exhibition is “Baroque Persistence: Body, Soul and Ornament” an unreleased show organized by Joya Brava, presenting more than 30 pieces that are the interpretation of Latin American Baroque, and its deep influence in Chilean popular culture.

The program in the city of Santiago includes three exhibitions in the Corporación Cultural Las Condes: "Conjunction" collective show from Argentina, "Emotions" collective show of Japanese Lacquer from Chile and a second version of “Baroque Persistence: Body, soul and ornament”

“Conjunction”
The exhibition shows how broad and diverse is jewellery production in Argentina. The artist’s work show strong personalities that reveal positions, ideas and desires. The selection of pieces is a good sample of the practice of contemporary jewellery in the country.

“Emotions”
Group exhibition of Japanese lacquer applied to contemporary jewellery.
Joy, Love, Fear, Sadness, Anger are human emotions that come with us from the moment we are born, they are not acquired by learning, we should allow them to speak when appropriate. The pieces of the artists, guided by their teacher Francine Schloeth, working on the ancient Japanese lacquer technique.

“Outdoor”
Exhibition of the jewellers Caco Honorato, Natalia Maturana and Mariela Vicencio, The name is a tribute to the writer Roberto Bolaño who develops the idea that poets should return to an open language leaving the sphere of comfort and thus begin to do powerful and original poetry. It is a declaration of independence and principles that aloud the artists to create a free jewellery, without restrictions of portability or users demands.

In the exhibition jewellery acquires its own personality, personal stories that become universal, where body, mind and jewel get together to give place to new Vital Connections. Students show from Pamela De La Fuente School of jewellery with the guidance of the Spanish jeweller Laura Gualda.

Jewellery made entirely with native materials from Chile. Creations made by 12 prominent national jewellers based in Valparaíso region. The artists present their personal proposals using original materials such as copper, silver, stone, wood, ceramic and organic fibers.

"Seismic: contemporary jewellery from the south inspired in the Earthquake"
Emotions and experiences after the earthquake, new forms that emerge from destruction. Rubble, tectonic plates, cracks, minerals and fallen trees are the new matter that the artists use to develop their pieces.

“Spanish-American Silver”
The Itinerant Museum brings together pieces of silversmiths and jewellers throughout Latin America. The pieces have been donated by the artists to tour the continent. This Museum is presented for the first time in Chile.

“Rave and Sanity”
The exhibition shows the work of 26 jewellers; 17 Chileans and 9 students from the Jewellery School “Alchimia” Florence, Italy. For this exhibition every jeweller was inspired by the theme of rave and sanity, choosing one or two concepts, so the harmony and balance versus madness and irrationality of shapes, colours, materials were the creative drive of each jewel.
