The gallery is pleased to present The Gold in the Gravel, our first solo exhibition of artist Darcy Miro. The artist’s work has straddled the line between sculpture, jewelry, fashion, and functional objects, finding in the relationships fertile ground for exploration. Wherever the material of metal could be used to make art within these disciplines, Miro has done it.
Artist list
Darcy Miro
Darcy Miro’s new body of work includes objects of adornment for the body and the home: cuffs, rings, and candlestick holders that lean into a juxtaposition between precious gem and soil and rock. The pieces glint and glimmer with diamonds peeping through a tangle of metal that is manipulated to resemble a found object unearthed from another time. Based out of Brooklyn, New York, Miro draws inspiration from nature, architectural form, and the body. Each of her pieces is meticulously crafted from sterling silver, 18 or 24 karat gold, or white bronze, with the occasional diamond that softens the raw nature of the pieces.
Opening Hours
Every day, 10 am - 6 pm.
By appointment only and 24 hours in advance.
You can book your appointment online or by email.
About the artist
A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Miro’s first exhibition was at the renowned contemporary art gallery Susanne Hilberry in Detroit. While continuing to exhibit at galleries, Miro began to work with fashion designers and architects such as Diller Scofidio Renfro, Peter Marino, and Will Bruder on site-specific sculptures, lighting, hardware, wallpaper, and mirrors, for residential and commercial clients. Miro has also worked with many notable interior designers including Kelly Wearstler, Emily Summers, and Amy Lau. Working with architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, Miro developed the small-scale maquette, which became the acclaimed facade of the American Folk Art Museum in New York City and is now in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
Darcy Miro’s jewelry is in the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Art and Design Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. This is her first solo exhibition at Sienna Patti Contemporary.
