Is there a stronger contrast imaginable than that between the enchanting beauty of a garden in bloom and the dynamic bedlam of the contemporary metropolis? Yet both environments provide inspiration for Helen Britton’s jewellery.

Helen BrittonIs there a stronger contrast imaginable than that between the enchanting beauty of a garden in bloom and the dynamic bedlam of the contemporary metropolis? Yet both environments provide inspiration for Helen Britton’s jewellery. In acknowledging the profusion and chaos in vegetation and the lure of the bright colours and technical installations dominating our cities, she has developed her very own, always recognizable esthetic.
Britton often applies parts of old fashion jewellery in her work. They sometimes have been collecting dust in old warehouses for half a century, just waiting to be rediscovered. She is a master in merging shapes and materials into entities that are as surprising as they are convincing: the most marvelous beads and other decorations gain new meaning in her intriguing brooches and necklaces.
For more then a decade Helen Britton has been expanding her universe by always finding new ways of expression. Her jewellery is traditional in the way that it is a joy to wear and watch, and contemporary because of its ground breaking new imagery and the remarkable blending of precious and mundane materials.
