The exhibition is about the phenomenon of contact as a way of interacting and finding connection in a spontaneous fashion through mutual passion and practice. Beyond networking, it becomes clear that this particular contact represents a deeper connection, fostering community and a mutual understanding of our field and how we intertwine with one another.
Artist list
Helen Clara Hemsley, Kaori Juzu, Lenard Requate, Josefine Rønsholt Smith, Mette Saabye, matt lambert
They say it takes a village to raise a child; maybe the same can be said about creativity. Interactions nurture, challenge and inspire us to search past our own reality for a connected experience.
Here, the participating artists weave a net of shared experiences in the field of body-related objects across different backgrounds, cities and countries. As their created works come together, they can no longer be seen as isolated instances but more as a connected whole. The individual works, hereby come into contact.
The graphic identity is inspired by Una Colquhoun’s experimental pencil drawings on multiple found papers. The amorphous graphite lines mirror a connectedness that crosses borders, combining the paper in a similar way to how this exhibition combines the work of the artists. It is integral to this project that the graphic elements are effortlessly integrated with the contributing works and the overall narrative.
We strive to show the impact of contact as a form of interaction, a mode of working, a structure for curation and a way to experience and think about relations and the connectedness between people and artists. As the viewers engage with the work, they connect to the objects and thereby the artists, experiencing a glimpse of the initial interactions that led to this exhibition, and at the same time are invited to reflect on their own forms of contact and how they shape different parts of their own lives.
Kontakt is founded upon our own point of contact, which started in March 2025 when we met each other at an exhibition opening at Schmuck in Munich. This chance meeting led to a fruitful 6-month internship and a solid friendship.
Kontakt is supported by the Copenhagen Goldsmiths’ Guild and Danmarks Nationalbank’s Anniversary Foundation.
