Intro
Nine young Hong Kong talents and their education over the years. The Matter Myth refers to the amazing balance every artist tries to find between the concept and the material used to tell the story.

The Matter Myth follows the path of nine young Hong Kong talents and their education over the years. They are unafraid to tackle philosophical matters and are accustomed to taking an academic approach to find words to describe or place their work in a historical or broader context. Each views their jewellery as art objects and hopes to convince others likewise. The title The Matter Myth refers to the amazing balance every artist tries to find between the concept and the material used to tell the story. They reach beyond the small things of daily life, and find the myth inside events. The grounded skills you need to be able to use the best selection of materials and techniques to express your myth and meaning – that balance shows your talent and ability to be an artist.

. 「以茶可行道,以茶可雅心」
. 中國茶道清悠、愜意,著重用心靈悟道。泡茶過程中,沏茶者讓自身沉靜下來,先傾茶於茶具表面,茶水流淌,為帶走污垢,為保温茶具,也為引導觀者逐步在美的展現中滌清雜亂的思想,重回朴素自然的狀態。清香茶水與手部動態的結合,讓奉者觀者同與茶水相合,寄茶道於身,品茶道之意。
. Chinese tea ceremony value the essence of virtue as well as humanity. It is regarded to leisure and comfort, more importantly, spiritual enlightenment. The procedures of the ceremony lead the audiences to calm down – with a combination of the fragrance and the hand’s movement, people would abandon all of the confusion and worldly things, and return to the state of simplicity. Savouring tea is not only about drinking, but also ritual of life, and spiritual need.. Yin Ni janet Chan

中國茶道清悠、愜意,著重用心靈悟道。泡茶過程中,沏茶者讓自身沉靜下來,先傾茶於茶具表面,茶水流淌,為帶走污垢,為保温茶具,也為引導觀者逐步在美的展現中滌清雜亂的思想,重回朴素自然的狀態。清香茶水與手部動態的結合,讓奉者觀者同與茶水相合,寄茶道於身,品茶道之意。
Chinese tea ceremony value the essence of virtue as well as humanity. It is regarded to leisure and comfort, more importantly, spiritual enlightenment. The procedures of the ceremony lead the audiences to calm down – with a combination of the fragrance and the hand’s movement, people would abandon all of the confusion and worldly things, and return to the state of simplicity. Savouring tea is not only about drinking, but also ritual of life, and spiritual need.

. 此戒指系列靈感源於月亮,其倒影、月蝕和運用定時拍攝手法拍下的月亮形態是研究的重點,以此總結出它們倚重光影變化、富動態的共同點,引導了下續創作。為模擬月的光影,作品用了具有自然光澤的珍珠配搭白銀。系列中每隻介指均有其獨立的動態模式,此為月亮移動動態的重現。
. The collection of rings is inspired by the moon. Information regarding to its reflection, lunar eclipse and photographs of the moon using time-lapse technique are the focus of researching. The common ground of the above is they all rely on light changes, and have dynamic movements. It is the guidance of the following design process. Pearls are used to imitate the luster of the moon and each ring has its own movement path which is the reproduction of the moon’s movement.. Nga Man Cheng

此戒指系列靈感源於月亮,其倒影、月蝕和運用定時拍攝手法拍下的月亮形態是研究的重點,以此總結出它們倚重光影變化、富動態的共同點,引導了下續創作。為模擬月的光影,作品用了具有自然光澤的珍珠配搭白銀。系列中每隻介指均有其獨立的動態模式,此為月亮移動動態的重現。
The collection of rings is inspired by the moon. Information regarding to its reflection, lunar eclipse and photographs of the moon using time-lapse technique are the focus of researching. The common ground of the above is they all rely on light changes, and have dynamic movements. It is the guidance of the following design process. . 瑕疵往往意味著不完美,其實這只在於看待這一切的角度。如同陶器披上了裂痕,它可以是不完美的,更可以是帶有經歷的,這道裂縫正正透露了它的故事。 相較於完好無缺,有缺陷的陶器更有存在價值,因此裂痕不應被遮蓋,相反該大大方方的展現出來。
. Defect is not a symbol of imperfection, it just depends on whether we appreciate the beauty of it. Things with defect are more realistic, and they are the inspiration and motivation for human to pursue perfection, so defect has a deeper positive meaning compared to perfection. There are possibilities to make the defect become attractive. I would not cover flaws up, and hope the viewers could appreciate the beauty of imperfection.. Hui Pek U

瑕疵往往意味著不完美,其實這只在於看待這一切的角度。如同陶器披上了裂痕,它可以是不完美的,更可以是帶有經歷的,這道裂縫正正透露了它的故事。 相較於完好無缺,有缺陷的陶器更有存在價值,因此裂痕不應被遮蓋,相反該大大方方的展現出來。
Defect is not a symbol of imperfection, it just depends on whether we appreciate the beauty of it. Things with defect are more realistic, and they are the inspiration and motivation for human to pursue perfection, so defect has a deeper positive meaning compared to perfection. There are possibilities to make the defect become attractive. I would not cover flaws up, and hope the viewers could appreciate the beauty of imperfection.

. 手勢含意各異,簡單的動作即可代替話句表述意思,是交際中表情達意的重要工具之一。部分手勢有鼓勵他人的正面力量,有的則拉近人與人之間的距離,例如二人尾指緊扣後拇指貼合,便是許諾之意。常可於電視劇中看到稚嫩的小孩「拉勾勾」以表承諾,此若套用於戀人便更為窩心,這動作如同肯定對方特別的存在,是愛的表現,在眾多手勢中尤其吸引。此系列作品寄語珍惜與所愛之人溝通相處的機會,這必定會令人感到幸福快樂。
. Every gesture has a different meaning. It plays an important role in communication as it can replace words. It even has the power of encouragement. The gesture of commitment (pinky promise) is two people holding their little finger together and pressing the thumbs against each other. It is an expression of love, even without saying so, which is very meaningful. Therefore, a collection of brooches inspired by this commitment gesture is designed, reminding people to cherish every opportunity getting along with people they love.. Shuk Yan Kan

手勢含意各異,簡單的動作即可代替話句表述意思,是交際中表情達意的重要工具之一。部分手勢有鼓勵他人的正面力量,有的則拉近人與人之間的距離,例如二人尾指緊扣後拇指貼合,便是許諾之意。常可於電視劇中看到稚嫩的小孩「拉勾勾」以表承諾,此若套用於戀人便更為窩心,這動作如同肯定對方特別的存在,是愛的表現,在眾多手勢中尤其吸引。此系列作品寄語珍惜與所愛之人溝通相處的機會,這必定會令人感到幸福快樂。
Every gesture has a different meaning. It plays an important role in communication as it can replace words. It even has the power of encouragement. . 中國人經常以魚入饌。鮮魚各部位口感各異,粗糙或嫩滑,多刺或無骨,鮮濃或味淡。吃飯時全家共圍一桌,葷素共享。嘗魚,必把最幼嫩肉厚的一箸給予長幼,至其碗中堆了滿滿的魚肉,此為尊老愛幼。那分別撥到各人碗中的魚肉代表了某種無須言明的情感,連繫了一家人。
. In Chinese society, the whole family sits together and share food while dining. Dishes with fish are often served. Intendedly, the softest and tasty flesh is always given to elderly or children, while spiny parts, tail or head of the fish are for oneself. It fully embodies the Chinese famous phrase ‘respect for the old, cherish for the young’. The action of caring, respecting as well as protecting connected the family members.. Ko Nga Ching

中國人經常以魚入饌。鮮魚各部位口感各異,粗糙或嫩滑,多刺或無骨,鮮濃或味淡。吃飯時全家共圍一桌,葷素共享。嘗魚,必把最幼嫩肉厚的一箸給予長幼,至其碗中堆了滿滿的魚肉,此為尊老愛幼。那分別撥到各人碗中的魚肉代表了某種無須言明的情感,連繫了一家人。
In Chinese society, the whole family sits together and share food while dining. Dishes with fish are often served. Intendedly, the softest and tasty flesh is always given to elderly or children, while spiny parts, tail or head of the fish are for oneself. It fully embodies the Chinese famous phrase ‘respect for the old, cherish for the young’. The action of caring, respecting as well as protecting connected the family members.

. 層層疊疊,數以千計,雀鳥生來便披著一身絨羽,其可謂同時扮演外衣和飾品的角色。於鳥類而言,羽毛有保護作用,卻更關乎虛榮,若有嚴重缺損甚至可引發自卑心理。於我此等,無論是以其精神意義還是美學角度來看,羽毛都甚有藝術價值。
. 是次創作以紙雕技藝作引子,用與紙張大相逕庭的不鏽鋼製成模擬羽毛的衍生創作物,並依此基底進行後續創作。項鏈中的重複起伏產生動態與韻律感,加上圓潤的部件造型稍稍減低了鋼鐵材質的機械性,使作品時現珍珠項鏈的「錯覺」,且盛載令佩戴者自覺優雅的希冀。
. Feathers of birds formed an insulating layer to maintain body temperature and protected the skin. They are also being the important structural parts of the birds' flight. In addition, its colors and markings is protective coloration.
. Yet feathers are much more than functional parts, with its various colors, patterns and textures, feathers happened to be clothing and ornament at the same time. For birds it is a matter of pride; for me it is a matter of aesthetics. Refer to the technique of paper sculpting; I have obtained inspiration to reproduce the feathers’ layering. Those small components are meaningless individuals until I linked them together. The repetition created rhythm, as well as convenience for adjustment.. Sze Man Pang

層層疊疊,數以千計,雀鳥生來便披著一身絨羽,其可謂同時扮演外衣和飾品的角色。於鳥類而言,羽毛有保護作用,卻更關乎虛榮,若有嚴重缺損甚至可引發自卑心理。於我此等,無論是以其精神意義還是美學角度來看,羽毛都甚有藝術價值。
是次創作以紙雕技藝作引子,用與紙張大相逕庭的不鏽鋼製成模擬羽毛的衍生創作物,並依此基底進行後續創作。項鏈中的重複起伏產生動態與韻律感,加上圓潤的部件造型稍稍減低了鋼鐵材質的機械性,使作品時現珍珠項鏈的「錯覺」,且盛載令佩戴者自覺優雅的希冀。

. 日本茶道文化精神—和敬清寂,表達出茶道不單是茶席之樂,更是融入俗世的人間平常道。茶藝師著重每個泡茶的動作,包括清洗茶筅、倒茶,用心為每位客人泡製獨一無二的茶湯;客人品茶時轉動茶碗的禮儀亦很講究,半圈是為了避免以茶碗的正面飲用,半圈以表謝意歸還茶碗,同時亦可欣賞陶製茶碗的侘寂美,此為主客間心靈交流的體現。
. Harmony and peace are crucial cultural essences of the Japanese Tea Ceremony. The ceremony is not held only for pleasure obtaining, but also for relaxing. In addition, the Japanese Tea Ceremony embodies the telepathy between the host and the guests. For the host, they have the motion to provide the very best to the guests by emphasising on every step of the ceremony. In return, the turning half of tea bowl showed the guests' respect, thanksgiving and gratitude to the host. Simultaneously, the guests could appreciate the beauty of wabi-sabi of the tea bowl. All the above demonstrate how they value the whole ceremony.. Ka Yee Wong

日本茶道文化精神—和敬清寂,表達出茶道不單是茶席之樂,更是融入俗世的人間平常道。茶藝師著重每個泡茶的動作,包括清洗茶筅、倒茶,用心為每位客人泡製獨一無二的茶湯;客人品茶時轉動茶碗的禮儀亦很講究,半圈是為了避免以茶碗的正面飲用,半圈以表謝意歸還茶碗,同時亦可欣賞陶製茶碗的侘寂美,此為主客間心靈交流的體現。
Harmony and peace are crucial cultural essences of the Japanese Tea Ceremony. The ceremony is not held only for pleasure obtaining, but also for relaxing. In addition, the Japanese Tea Ceremony embodies the telepathy between the host and the guests. For the host, they have the motion to provide the very best to the guests by emphasising on every step of the ceremony. . Battle Fish blows air bubbles in the water to construct bubble nests, inspired by this, I pinched clay to create a collection of rings that belong to myself. The series of ‘Pinch’ is an experimental project of constructing unique forms by the action of pinching. 鬥魚用「吐」息在水中造岀泡巢,而我則揑揉黏土創作專屬於自己的形態。這一系列的作品描述了手與物料的關係,透過「揑」,一個簡單的動作,結構岀造型各異的戒指,並通過手將黏土混合不同的物料,改變其質感與色彩,使作品更豐富多變。
Battle Fish blows air bubbles in the water to construct bubble nests, inspired by this, I pinched clay to create a collection of rings that belong to myself. The series of ‘Pinch’ is an experimental project of constructing unique forms by the action of pinching. I also mixed different types of clay to give various textures and colours to the final pieces.

. 豐子愷先生曾經在「兒童相」一書提到:我向來憧憬於兒童生活,尤其是那時, 我初嚐世味,看見了當時社會裏的虛偽驕矜之狀,覺得成人都已失去本性,只有兒童天真爛漫,人格完整,這才是真正的「人」。
. 如用比喻手法,可把徹底真實而純潔的兒童比喻作白紙,因他們的思想空間就是一張白紙。 他們在熱情和好奇心下,擁有強盛且無限的想像力和創造力,他們是不受大自然支配、不受人類社會束縛的創造者。
. ‘I always prospect of a childhood life. Especially, when I came across in this society, it is sheer hypocrisy for adult who pretend to have better moral principles than they actually do. Therefore, most of adult is losing their human nature, but the child is totally opposite, they are with complete personality, so that can be referring to “Real Human Being”.’ Mr.Feung ZikAi said.

豐子愷先生曾經在「兒童相」一書提到:我向來憧憬於兒童生活,尤其是那時, 我初嚐世味,看見了當時社會裏的虛偽驕矜之狀,覺得成人都已失去本性,只有兒童天真爛漫,人格完整,這才是真正的「人」。
如用比喻手法,可把徹底真實而純潔的兒童比喻作白紙,因他們的思想空間就是一張白紙。 他們在熱情和好奇心下,擁有強盛且無限的想像力和創造力,他們是不受大自然支配、不受人類社會束縛的創造者。
‘I always prospect of a childhood life. Especially, when I came across in this society, it is sheer hypocrisy for adult who pretend to have better moral principles than they actually do.
