Patina Gallery introduces the 21st solo jewelry exhibition of the master german metalsmith Peter Schmid of Atelier Zobel. Inspired, the exhibition Inspired by The Santa Fe Opera’s production of William Shakespeare’s Athenian classic, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Schmid composes a cast of lustrous characters, made and imagined for the body. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Opera’s Apprentice Program for Theater Technicians.

A joyful collection awaits, as Schmid leads our wandering eyes into the mystical world of our most beautiful fantasies. Expressions made of silver often missed with platinum and gold, illustrate Schmid's alchemic understanding of materials, which allows him to create dramatically beautiful works of art.

Schmid’s emotive, intoxicating, and exotic jewels have captivated collectors across Europe and into the heart of Patina Gallery. For over 20 years, Allison and Ivan have continued to adore Schmid’s level of craftsmanship, design, and style, which have earned his jewelry a home across Patina’s oeuvre of handcrafted works.

Iconic talismans emerge in Schmid’s A Midsummer Dream. A grand necklace, to the esteem of Queen Titania, is shaped in silver and gold, sprinkled with diamonds and Munsteiner cut tourmalines. Luscious butterfly wings of chloromelanite gracefully move with expert precision and emotion, transporting the spirit to the magical forest of Shakespeare’s masterpiece.

Opening day: Friday, July 16, 5-7:30 pm
