Intro
Therese Hilbert's jewellery evokes moods: images of volcanoes, mountains or vessels immediately bring associations to mind. Her works transform sensations into sensual images, they exude presence and bring forth her keen observations. Curves meet pointed shapes, colourful accents contrast against muted surfaces, the interior and exterior engage in a powerful dialogue.

Therese Hilbert
She places opposites in a relationship vibrating with tension. Silver runs through her work as a material, sometimes blackened and coated with lacquer. The human body as a point of reference and the wearability of jewellery are essential to Hilbert. Her works are imbued with precision and deliberate choices, giving rise to an impressive body of work.

The title of the exhibition, from the Senses, derives from Hilbert's emotional and empathetic approach to her work, and her perspective on the environment and current events. It describes a body of work that not only emerges from the senses, but which is also full of sensuality and depth.

Therese Hilbert's work was exhibited at the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau as early as 1980 alongside the jewellery maker Otto Künzli. At that time, three of her brooches were added to the Goldschmiedehaus's collection. These mark the beginning of her career and her precise understanding of form and dimension. One of these brooches is on display in the exhibition From the Depot. An Exploration of the Collection.

This year, another brooch by Hilbert from 2020, was acquired for the collection of the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus. To mark this occasion, the exhibition from the Senses. Jewellery by Therese Hilbert offers a more in-depth insight into the artist's work. Works created between 1980 and 2020 are on display in the foyer display case.
