Shifting Mass was my theme and plan during my residency at Sundaymorning@ekwc, the European ceramic work centre in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The moving of mass or the displacement of volumes was the starting point of my dynamic experiment with form, material and colour.

Shifting Mass: ‘My hands work and push the clay. Clay accumulates, re-shapes around my fingers. Clay is curling into all directions. Frayed edges, pleats, crinkles...The imprint of my fingertip in clay is opening up like a flower’s bud.’

The results of this intensive period are ceramic elements; beads in the widest meaning of the word, strung on a hand- or mechanical braided cord partly developed at TextielLab in Tilburg.

At Gallery Marzee I will show this Spring 12 necklaces from the collection Shifting Mass.
