Patina Gallery is thrilled to feature the newest collection of metalsmiths and lapidaries Jeff & Susan Wise. Working from their studio in Colorado, the Wises create one-of-a-kind works of adornment. While both are jewelry artists, Jeff is also a sculptor and Susan, a painter, and they impart their talents into extraordinary statements of wearable design. The artists shape most of their own stones, leaving behind a personal piece of themselves in every work. Together, they ignite the skill and sensibility of fine art to procure compelling jewelry for the body.
Artist list
Jeff Wise, Susan Wise
We cut our own stones, making them as dynamic and expressive as the metalwork while creating a seamless flow between the two mediums.
/ Jeff & Susan Wise
At the extraordinary intersection of beauty and design, Jeff and Susan Wise continue to push the envelope with their newest innovative collection. Unparalleled playfulness and kinetic energy collide to create work of impressive volume, tone, and disposition. The artists accentuate the character of their pieces by setting opulent elements in motion amidst a mixture of radiant wonder to create works that are an opportunity for brilliant craftsmanship and design to unite in a stunning expression.
We create bold, dynamic forms to create a bridge between shapes whose roots are organic and those that are based more on architecture and geometry.
/ Jeff & Susan Wise
Hand-selected and cut stones are also integrated with their design to create geometric glamour that culminates in breathtaking works that speak to the soul. The result exhibits an astonishing collection of gemstones, honoring each one’s individual and intrinsic beauty while nestled in the perfect embrace of silver and gold. Looking at each piece, the viewer is imbued by passion and creative imagination in every detail.
Kinetic motion is an important aspect of our work, imbuing the pieces with fluidity and animation.
/ Jeff and Susan Wise
The Wises' innovative works have been recognized in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Museum of Arts and Design, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in the Renwick Gallery, among others.
Artist Opening: September 20, 2024 5–7pm.
