In celebration of Patina Gallery’s 25th anniversary, we are thrilled to announce Golden Hour, an exhibition by friend and master metalsmith Peter Schmid of Atelier Zobel. We invite friends and collectors to join us as we venture into the world of Schmid’s newest creations inspired by the magical moment between day and night when the sky is bathed in rich blue and golden hues.

The jewelry of Peter Schmid is internationally revered for his attention to detail, his fusion of metals, his use of glorious gemstones and the fluid movement his pieces share in astounding craftsmanship, design and style. Schmid’s intoxicating works of art have defined an innovative legacy in the 21st century and have been exhibited at Patina for over 25 years.

Emotive, intoxicating, exotic. For Schmid, beauty is a celebration of nature. Inspired by the ever-changing world, natural structures, contrasts of opposites and the juxtaposition of fragility against strength, his creations defy all conventions, honoring the personality of the gems as much as the person wearing them.

Across the collection, Schmid once again boldly pushes the envelope, presenting his new innovative collection inspired by the magical golden hour at the intersection of day and night, capturing the essence of this transient moment to create provocative jewels of timeless beauty.

He explores daring designs and creates treasures with materials like iridescent opals, opalescent moonstone, turquoise and other delicious gems bathed in gradations of platinum, high karat gold and silver.

Radiating the tranquility of blue, brilliant turquoise, with its vibrant hue, embodies the clarity and freshness of Lake Constance, whose shores and waters display unparalleled beauty at dusk. Moonstone, with its mysterious shimmer, symbolizes the delicate yet powerful moments when the first stars appear in the sky. Jewels that capture the grace and colorful splendor of butterflies, symbolizing transformation and lightness, reminding us to appreciate the fleeting beauty of nature.

Also in the collection, Schmid pays homage to Vincent van Gogh and his masterpiece Starry Night. Expressions made of sterling silver, mixed with palladium, platinum, and high karat gold, illustrate Schmid’s alchemic understanding of material that allows him to create dramatically beautiful works of art that transform their emotional depth and hypnotic enchantment into wearable art.

Van Gogh uniquely captured the depth and infinity of the night sky. His swirling stars and luminous celestial bodies reflect humanity’s fascination with the unknown and the infinite.
