(...)Students of the Hiko Mizuno College came up with a presentation which was based on the central japanese aesthetic-concept of Ma. The Munich participants will make an installation with jewellery under the ambigous title Wenn Helden Zittern - When Heroes Chatter.(...)
International exchange of ideas: There is a good network between Tokyo, London and Munich. Otto Künzli, professor of the jewellery department of the Academy of Fine Arts In Munich, was one of the founder of the so called Three-Schools-Project in 1993. The Hiko Mizuno College from Tokyo was a member from the very start. In the 2009/10 term the Royal College of Art from London is participating for the first time.
Nine Students - three of each school – are presenting their work first in Tokyo then in Munich and finally in London in a changing but typical way of their view. So the students of the Hiko Mizuno College came up with a presentation which was based on the central japanese aesthetic-concept of „Ma“. The three Munich participants will make an installation with jewellery under the ambigous title „Wenn Helden Zittern“ („When Heroes Chatter“) in the Pinakothek der Moderne.
Regarding to the annual Jewellery-March-Madness in Munich with plenty of simultaneous openings of important exhibitions in the Pinakothek der Moderne an eerie monster is guarding over the newest treasures of the 21. Century. Mythological references are welcome. Shades of Siegfried. With playful seriousness the battle against the old guys of the jewellery scene is declared.
