Brooke Marks-Swanson
Raised near the Great Lakes of northwest Indiana, Marks-Swanson grew up attuned to the rhythms of land and season, through gardens carefully tended, natural resources gathered with intention, and the quiet understanding that the materials of the earth carry deep meaning.

In this new body of work, that sensibility finds expression through clay, pearl, shell, stone, oxidized silver, linen, and other earth-born materials. Elements are gathered into rhythmic compositions of line, repetition, color, and texture, creating pieces that feel at once organic and architectural.

Shell and stone form patterns reminiscent of woven cloth, planted fields, changing seasons, and distant horizons. Each material retains something of its origin while becoming part of a new whole.

Monumental in presence yet quietly strong in spirit, the works take on the intimacy of protective amulets worn close to the body, rooted in the land from which their materials emerge. Where the Land Meets the Sky invites us to consider what can be carried with us.

Opening reception: Friday, October 9 2026, from 5 to 7 pm.
Opening hours: Monday - Sunday, 11 am - 5 pm.
