Il Maestro Acquafresca is arguably one of the greatest names in Chasing and Repoussé in the world today. He has made it his life mission not only to create beautiful works of art but also to pass on his knowledge so this artform doesn’t die. Based in Florence, Italy, he has taught all over Europe (Portugal, Switzerland, UK, Belgium), South America (Costa Rica) and the United States.
This course fits all levels, from beginner to advanced and all tools are provided. After the workshop, the tools are available for purchase. It is possible for advanced students to use the snarling tool working on hollow objects (please inquire).
The first day (maximum day and a half) students will be introduced to the technique by working on a common project: a copper dragonfly, an exclusive design of Il Maestro Acquafresca. After that, they will each work on their own project in copper or silver (fine, argentium or sterling; fine silver is preferred). The project must be pre-approved and is completely individual. It is expected that by the end of the course the project will be finished or almost finished.
The chasing and repoussé tools provided for the course are all handmade by Il Maestro Acquafresca. They are no ordinary tools: they are the best you can have for the best possible work, developed by years and years of his own experience and that of all his family before him, spanning 400 documented years as chasing and repoussé experts in Florence. The tar is also the ancient florentine tar.
