To all those wishing to experience the world of contemporary jewellery. A great opportunity to discover another medium for artistic expression.

The workshop will give you insight in various techniques and materials, analysis aspects, such as form, colour, composition etc. It is a great place to understand the concept of contemporary jewellery, as well as design, develop and manufacture your own jewellery piece.

4. Design, develop and manufacture your own jewellery piece, as part of a small project work

Special requirements
None, but you are welcome to bring materials that you wish to use in your project work.

Included in the price: Hand-outs; Use of tools; Basic and/or special materials (not all you may need); Lunch at a nearby location (Saturday and Sunday); Snacks/Coffee/Tea during the workshop; Free Wi-Fi access; A drink (wine or beer) at the end of each day.

Note that your place on the workshop is reserved only when you have paid a deposit of 125 € (50% of the workshop fee). We will send you detailed information by e-mail, as soon as you sign up. The remainder must be paid by the 29th of June.

The workshop will be divided into 5 sessions, over a period of 3 days, from the 30th of June to the 2nd on July.
Friday 30.06
18h15 - 18h30 Arrival at hOurSpace.
18h30 - 20 00 Session 1: Introductory lecture.
 What is “Contemporary Jewellery” after all? What is behind the concept and how is it done? What does it take to fall into that category? Gustavo will take you on a small journey through the background, history and backdrop of this exciting medium for artistic expression. You will be given suitable references, examples, methods and ideas to further inspire you.
20h00 - ... Get together at Logradouro da Bempostinha (optional).

Saturday 01.07
09.30 - 12h30 Session 2: Shopping for Materials.
You will be going on a journey to one of the Lisbon quarters. It will be a shopping trip with Gustavo, where you will be looking for different materials, which you may or not put to further use in your work.
12h30 - 13h00 Meetup at hOurSpace.
13h00 - 14h30 Lunch.
14h30 - 17h30 Session 3: Assemblage & Cold Connections. Project work.
The subject of assemblage and cold connections will be addressed in more detail during this session. It will also mark the start of your very own jewellery project.

Sunday 02.07
09h30 - 10h00 Arrival at hOurSpace.
10h00 - 13h00 Session#4: Project work.
You will continue developing your project, and a step closer to bringing your design to life.
13h00 - 14h30 Lunch.
14h30 - 18h00 Session#5: Project work & Exhibition.
In this last session you will have the chance to finish your work, document it and discuss both your piece and the process. There will be a small exhibition of all pieces, as inspiration for the future.
