Re-purposing bicycle inner tubes to create amazing jewellery

Metalab is excited to introduce the innovative and elegant work of Bulgarian contemporary jeweller Nikolay Sardamov, who is renown across Europe for his work using both precious metals and re-cycled
materials including rubber bicycle inner tubes. In conjunction with his solo exhibition Continuum at metalab, Nikolay will be presenting a one-day workshop focussing on the re-working of the bicycle inner tube into jewellery. Participants will be provided with a range of different sized bicycle inner tubes that will be transformed under Nikolay’s guidance into edgy and unique wearables. Nikolay Sardamov trained as a jeweller and metalsmith in Sofia, Bulgaria graduating with a Master of Arts in jewellery and metal from the Sofia Academy of Arts in 2005. He has exhibited his work extensively in Europe and the UK since 2000. Continuum is Nikolay’s first solo exhibition in Australia.

Lunch, a selection of bicycle inner tubes and basic hand tools will be provided. Participants may also bring some  of their own tubes and tools to work with. Silver may be purchased from metalab on the day if required.
