Intro
Join Adam Hawk as he demonstrates how to quickly start developing patterns with Adobe Illustrator to be used with the combination of laser cutting and non-ferrous metalsmithing techniques. 

All workshops are interactive, and are recorded for viewing at your own pace. Participants have recording access for 45 days.
Students will use their custom digital designs to explore analog metalsmithing processes such as surface textures and die-forming. Students will work to create a brooch or pendant. No previous Adobe experience is necessary.

Day 1: November 2nd
  • Introduction
  • Adobe Illustrator interface
  • Pathfinder tools/pattern design
  • Designing for the laser cutter
  • Laser cutter demo
  • Technology resources and online services 

Day 2: November 9th
  • Texturing with the rolling mill
  • Die forming
  • Fabrication methods for brooch/pendant or locket

About Adam Hawk:
Adam Hawk is a studio artist and Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Hawk earned his MFA in metalsmithing blacksmithing from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and BFA in sculpture and computer fine arts from Memphis College of Art.
