Join us for a thrilling 3-day intensive workshop that will ignite your creativity and push the boundaries of jewellery design! Guided by Caroline Broadhead, one of the preeminent contemporary jewellery artists of our time and an experienced instructor, this workshop delves into the fascinating world of protective jewellery like never before.
Prepare to be inspired as we explore the myriad ways jewellery can serve as a guardian against threats. Through captivating examples and thought-provoking discussions, you'll explore how jewellery can be used to safeguard what truly matters to you.
The workshop kicks off with a compelling question: "Protection against what?" It's time to dive deeply and uncover the threats that resonate with each participant on a personal level. Whether it's physical, emotional, or spiritual, we'll dive into the essence of what you hold dear and the invaluable treasures you long to shield.
Next, we'll explore how the subject of jewellery can play a pivotal role in protecting something of immense value. From the serious to the whimsical, from the deeply personal to the universally felt, no idea is off-limits in this thrilling workshop. Through engaging brainstorming sessions and dynamic discussions, we'll invigorate your distinctive concepts and explore the influential realm of protection in depth.
By the end of this transformative workshop, you'll emerge with a newfound understanding of the hidden potential of jewellery as a guardian and a creator of narratives. Don't miss this opportunity to join a community of passionate individuals, all driven by the desire to craft jewelry that transcends its aesthetic appeal and becomes a powerful symbol of protection and strength.
Spaces are limited, so secure your spot now and be prepared to unleash your imagination in ways you never thought possible.

About the teacher:
Caroline Broadhead has dedicated over five decades to exploring the intricate relationship between objects and the human body. Her artistic endeavors have consistently centered around the concept of boundaries, whether they manifest as the interplay between surface and interior, presence and absence, public and private, or the definition of personal space and territoriality. Through the interplay of light, shadows, reflections, and movement, she has ventured beyond the confines of the physical form, delving into the outer reaches of the body's expression. By embracing larger scale projects and collaborations, Broadhead has ventured into the captivating realms of space and the boundaries that connect or separate individuals, thereby evoking subjective and deeply emotional responses. Caroline Broadhead trained at the Central School of Art and Design, London. Public collections that hold examples of her work include the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; the Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. She was the winner of the Jerwood Prize for Applied Arts: Textiles in 1997, and has held major retrospectives at CODA, The Netherlands in 2018, and at the Lethaby Gallery, London in 2019. Broadhead held the positions of Jewellery and Textiles Programme Director and BA Jewellery Design Course Leader for nearly ten years at the College until her retirement in 2018 and is now Professor Emerita. She continues to teach on the course and is a guest lecturer at various institutions in and outside the UK.
