DEADLINE: 20/07/2025

Delft casting sand is a special sand made specifically for casting silver, gold and other metals. Like sand casting, the Ossa Sepia casting technique also dates back to the Bronze Age.
Casting Technique in Delft Sand:
Due to its consistency and high contour strength, the finest castings, such as unique rings, brooches or pendants, can be cast with an almost perfect surface. The two metal cylinders filled with sand become the casting mold. We produce replicas/castings of the models that have been created (or brought along).
The characteristics of the models made of hard materials such as metal, plastic, horn, wood etc. should be as follows:
- Cylindrical without cavities at the sides.
- Excessive formal differences between wide and narrow, thin and thick should be avoided.
- The surface can be smooth or slightly ribbed, not too irregular.
The sophisticated embedding of the models produces perfect results!
It's a magical moment when the cylinders are opened and you see the result!
Casting Technique in Ossa Sepia:
The shoulder, the backbone of the cuttlefish, is used as a casting mold. The wonderful surface texture that results from the casting is characteristic. This is how unique pieces are created!
The models (brought along) are made of hard materials such as metal, wood, horn or plastic. They are pressed between two shells, and this cavity is then filled with silver.
Material
- Silver for casting (granulate 925) can be obtained from me.
- Depending on the model, you will be charged between 10 - 18 grams of silver.
Schedule:
24.7. 13.00 - 17.00 h.
25.7. 09.00 - 17.00 h.
26.7. 09.00 - 12.00 h.
Price: CHF 490.
