How does an idea become jewellery, and why?
What defines jewellery ? We push back the boundaries of jewellery, and of ourselves.
How do we arrive at a result that we are not yet acquainted with?
We open our treasure chest of technical tricks, hunt for unconventional solutions and expand our artistic vocabulary. How does one go about reading a work?
Can we look at a finished piece objectively? How do we get out of our own heads?
And have we managed to surprise ourselves in the process?
Ever since he first roamed the streets of his hometown as a seven-year-old, concealed behind a mask with his piccolo, David Bielander, has been fascinated by the play with identity, belonging, dissonance, external perception and the opinions they create. After carrying out an apprenticeship as a goldsmith with Kurt Degen in Basel and working for Georg Spreng, David Bielander studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He lives with his son and his wife, artist Helen Britton, in Munich.
