This hand chain juxtaposes intricate Mehendi (the Indian art of applying henna) patterns with simplistic shapes. The stones commemorate the process of applying henna- it is applied green, dries black and imprints red on the body. The format of a hand chain drapes the entire hand: fingers, back of the hand and wrist to allude to Indian jewelry’s incredible ability to adorn the entire body
"I have lived a decade of my life both in the United States and India, and consider India my home
I have struggled with the dichotomy of not being Indian or American enough and It has been the subject matter of my work. I entered the program at MassArt exploring why I identified with India so much.

Indian culture encompasses tradition with a deeply rooted history of developing their art. The constant exposure of gold and extravagant Indian
.jewelry has shown me the wonders of silver. This metal has the powerful capacity to become a blank canvas for stories to come alive.
I use this unique feature to
create jewelry, India inspired, in my perspective, in a new medium. I seek to allow the story to make the object more precious than the silver. This is where I work to find a balance, developing my tradition, in my art and in my life.
